Our Story

The Omega Drive chapter of Hands for Life was started in 2017 by Dr. Travis McKay after the loss of his childhood friend to a heroin overdose. Dr. McKay had watched this friend progress from using prescription strength opiate painkillers to heroin, and the damage it did to his life as a result. The goal and purpose of the Omega Drive chapter is simple; everyone should have access to chiropractic care, regardless of their income or their insurance coverage. In his for-profit clinic, Advanced Back & Neck Pain Center, Dr. McKay had had to turn away patients from care due to their lack of funds, high deductibles, or limited insurance coverage. Ironically enough, although a lot of times when the patient’s insurance would not cover chiropractic care, it would cover the use of prescription medication for pain. Chiropractic has been proven countless times within the research to be more effective and less dangerous than certain standard medical interventions for musculoskeletal pain conditions. Alternatives need to be offered for patients who can’t typically afford a complementary therapy, and if we can prevent at least one person from being introduced to opiate painkillers, we will consider ourselves successful.

Our Team

We’re a family of chiropractors serving to make the world a healthier, more connected place. Our team understands the disparity in healthcare across the globe. There are some communities with access to excellent chiropractic care. There are other groups of people who have no way of receiving the benefit of chiropractic care. Our team came together to try and shrink the gap between the “haves” and the “have not’s”.

Dr. Travis McKay was born into a chiropractic family and has seen firsthand the benefits of chiropractic care his entire life. Initially it was by watching his father, Dr. Richard McKay, in his practice and then eventually he would see it first hand after graduating from Life University in 2014 and becoming the clinical director of Advanced Back & Neck Pain Center. One of the hardest parts of his career as a chiropractor has been having to turn away certain patients because of lack of funds or lack of insurance. Dr. McKay hopes that with the creation of this branch of Hands for Life, everyone who wants it can have access to chiropractic care! Dr. Travis McKay
